Is Myanmar Cardinal in Burma repeating the Church's Ignoble History of Nazi-Collaboration?

It is time for the Burma watchers to re-read the history of (Christian) Church's collaboration with the Nazi regime.

here is the reason:

Instead of delivering of message of peace and leading prayers for peace, Cardinal Charles Bo effectively turned this large gathering at Aung San football stadium in downtown Rangoon into a Nuremberg-like nationalist rally, pouring more fuel into the rising populist Neo-Fascist nationalism.

In this strain of strong nationalism, the Burmese public has been made to feel the world is conspiring against them, despite their moral society and politics.

If you have the command of Burmese please watch these two clips, which I found on the Facebook's public domain. Otherwise you can read my English translation.

Here is my translation for this 1st 5 minutes:

"We are very proud to be part of this (Maha) Great Nation. We have reasons to take pride in this Great Nation of ours, which is endowed with above- and under-ground natural resources. Our nation is the Golden Land.

We are gathered here to do to pray for peace. Peace is possible. Peace is the only way. The fruits of peace will be enjoyed by the future generations of our people.

Our country is at the crossroads of history. Our country is under the leadership of Daw ASSK. We have made great sacrifice for our individual rights. The person who will lead on the path towards democracy is Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

Because of the recent crisis in Rakhine State, the world is paying attention to our country. Especially the international friends that have supported Daw ASSK are very disappointed because of this crisis.

Globally, everyone is pointing finger at our country. Everyone is laying blame on us. They are playing "big bosses". Given that, this is the time for all of us to stay united. We need to acknowledge the strengths among ourselves.

I would like the world to know that our people have integrity and high capacity to solve our own problems. We must let the world know that we have high expectations of our country and we are rising.

We have waged a peaceful struggle for democracy. I would like to tell the world that our people live in accord with Lord Buddha's principle of Karuna (loving kindness).

We believe in the leadership of Daw ASSK.

Our belief in Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is solid. She is the hope of our millions of people who want justice, national reconciliation and fairness."

This second bit of about 3 minutes come with English subtitles. but they do NOT match what the Cardinal is saying. So, I am including key points in English - my own translation) - from what the Cardinal Bo said.

"Aung San Suu Kyi, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi did not go around and beg for Nobel Prize. It is the international organizations that have pursued her and showered her with many awards and honours. Let them take their awards and honours back. I even want to offer to give them all back!

There is one thing these international organisations cannot take back from ASSK. That is, the love the Myanmar people have for her. No one can take away our faith in her. The hopes and dreams of millions of Burmese people are in her hands. She has accomplished so much in so short a time. It is she who brought into big tent of Pang Long Peace Conference many adversaries who have fought for many years. Don't say this is 'a small achievement'. Since she had taken over reins of the State power she has adopted Peace as her first priority.

Specifically on Rakhine crisis, even before the crisis broke out she had already formed Kofi Annan Commission. Now she has formed a committee to implement Annan Commission's Recommendations.

The world need to understand, help and support this (Aung San Suu Kyi) government."
