Lyrics and vocal by Mun Awng

Lyrics and vocal by Mun Awng (Oslo-based dissident musician, in exile since 1988 uprisings) (slightly adaptive English Translation – by Zarni)

Run! Run! Run ! – Run to safety Grab your loved ones like wife and child as you flee the (Myanmar Army) forcing to labour Before their “4-Cuts” offensive comes Run! Run ! Run I - even the grannies and the elderly have to run - for their lives.

(Chorus) Oh – where art thou Peace? Long and lost days make us pray Praying for greater strength

Grab, Grab, Grab – Myanmar Army is grabbing anything in sight After the (Burmese generals’) lion’s turn the institutional land grab is about to come. Land, land, land – our land the ancestors had left Myanmar Army is putting its official Stamp of Theft Justice in Myanmar is nowhere, and the generals’ compassion is scare.

(Chorus) Oh, ye birth-fellow common-men and women Our natural land is beautiful and it ought to be peaceful. Let us unite out of our common (oppressed) plight. Let us fight for our collective rights.

Run! Run! Run! Young little woman, Run! Run before the Tatmadaw (Myanmar’s feudal army) finds you, Run! Dishing out cruel deeds of rape and pillage They are hell-bent on cleansing our ancestral land of its peoples

(Chorus) Oh ye Peace, where art thou Long and lost Days make us pray Praying for greater strength

Oh, ye birth-fellow common-men and women Our natural land is beautiful and it ought to be peaceful. Let us unite out of our common (oppressed) plight. Let us fight for our collective rights.

Oh Maran Lu Ra and Hkawn Nan Tsin, may you both rest in peace!

Maran Lu Ra and Hkawn Nan Tsin are the two Kachin Baptist volunteer teachers who were gang-raped and brutally murdered by Myanmar Army troops in Shan State on the night of 19 or 20 January this year.
